Stochastic Screening

The Kodak Square Spot technology and the thermal laser imaging enables Hemlock to take advantage of the unique Kodak Staccato screening process. Stochastic screening resolutions as fine as 10 micron spot sizes — equivalent to approximately 600 line screen — can be achieved with this FM screening technology. The benefits of this high resolution printing process are the exact rendering of fine detail throughout the entire tonal scale. In addition, the small stochastic spot size enables us to print with higher ink densities. Together with other optical advantages of the stochastic spot pattern, we can achieve a much expanded colour gamut over the printing process with conventional screening. Vibrant reds, greens and blues make for stunning looking images on coated and uncoated papers.
